The legacy of death
We’re passionate about many things at Woven Farewell willow coffins. One massive motivation to why I created Woven Farewell is to help broaden the slowly increasing choices of sustainable options!
Did you know that pollution in the UK produced by cremation may be comparable to driving the length of Britain in a car twice over?!
This is due to the type of material from which the coffins are constructed - 95% are made from chipboard or MDF - and the nitrogen oxides that are produced when they are burnt. And the countries they are made in like China footing the water pollution bill from the chemicals that are used in making them.
I love the idea of our final act in death being one that is life sustaining for future generations and all beings through choosing ecological options like a willow coffin locally made. And slowly but surely the funeral industry is going that way!
