Adorning a coffin

WovenFarewellCoffins

I recently had the honour of making K's coffin, partly with his family. K's talents and passions revolved around interiors wooden furnishings and design, I love how his family have chosen a few of his most cherished wood-related items. You can see some wood panneling in the background, a small corner of an incredible rural chapel where K's memorial was held before a direct cremation. Direct cremations (no ceremony at the crematorium) sometimes get flack for removing part of the goodbye process for loved ones, but this is an example of how it can allow more flexibility and personalisation for the bereaved.

Thanks to the family for allowing me to share this picture, due to the sensitivity of our work at Woven Farewell it's not often that it feels appropriate to ask for images, or that images are shared with us unasked.
