These stunning pieces are reusable/ rental willow body carriers from many moons ago in Sutherland, UK. I assume the deceased would have been shrouded.
The card caption on the child coffin reads: "These two body baskets were used in Sutherland to carry Paupers to the graveside in the late 18th and/ or 19th centuries."
