Something that can be so special before a funeral is to create space for folks to visit their loved one and to say goodbye in a more pesonal way at the family home.
This was our first time of providing a coffin for a funeral we were also invited to, and it was very moving to touch the coffin knowing that the loved one lay inside.
The family invited guests for an hour before the main ceremony down the road, with a quiet room for reflection and gratitude with the beloved deceased.
What's your experience of visiting someone resting at home before they are buried/cremated? Is it something you'd like for yourself - or definitely wouldn't have?
Many thanks to the family for permission to use the picture.
